Business of the Month
Pisgah Baptist Church

Originally constituted in 1849 by Robert James, the father of Frank and Jesse James, Pisgah Baptist Church serves as a Southern Baptist congregation in the Excelsior Springs community. Pisgah has been and continues to be involved in quite a number of ministries that reach beyond our community including disaster relief, international mission work in Romania, and mission work in other parts of the U.S.
Locally, Pisgah has ministries for both individuals and families alike. Pisgah is convinced that the Gospel of Christ affects every aspect of life and because of this, seeks to serve all they come into contact with for the glory of Christ and for the good of our neighbors. In an effort to establish productive relationships in the community, Pisgah sponsors various events throughout the year like community fly-ins at the Midwest National Air Center in Mosby. In the past year, Pisgah has seen a tremendous response resulting from Financial Peace University. They have seen families and individuals pay off $255,485 in debt and save $121,502. This is especially exciting in light of our current economic challenges as a nation.
Doug Richey serves as Pastor for Pisgah Baptist Church. A native of Warrensburg, Doug earned his BSBA in Finance & Economics from Central Missouri State University and his MDiv from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Doug served as a Combat Engineer with the Missouri Army National Guard for eight years and worked in corporate training with DaimlerChrysler Financial for six years. Having served on several committees with the SBC and MBC, Doug currently serves as President of the MBTS National Alumni Association, President of the Missouri Baptist Convention's Pastor's Conference, Trustee for MBU, and is a NAMB endorsed Chaplain.
The church is located at 112 Pisgah Drive, east of Excelsior Springs, Mo., phone 816-630-5121. For more information on service times, see the Chamber's church directory.
