Cast members provide a study in suspense with the production of "Write Me A Murder".
The Excelsior Springs Community Theatre was founded in 1980 by a group of volunteers that saw the need for live theatre opportunities in their community. Since that time the group moved to several performance locations until finding their permanent home at 114 N. Marietta in 2010.
After extensive hours rehabbing the abandoned church, The Slightly Off Broadway Theatre opened its doors for the production of "Saggy Tights and Mighty Mights" in February of 2011. Since then the stage has been filled with a variety of plays, musicals, family shows and music revues!
"Being involved in our community is at the core of who we are and what we do," said Colonsay Selby, Executive Director. "We joined the chamber to support our community at various levels, from helping to promote our fellow business members to working together to bring new ideas/opportunities to our community."
2013 brought about even more changes with the creation of the youth theatre group: The Center Stage Players. The Center Stage Players, pictured below, were created to give young people in the community and surrounding areas an opportunity to participate in live theatre.
The Slightly Off Broadway Theatre continues to offer a variety of theatrical experiences for all ages. Whether it is as an actor, stage manager, lighting technician, musician, or audience member, The Slightly Off Broadway Theatre has something for everyone!
