A Ribbon Cutting Ceremony concluded a special Chamber Morning Schmooze held at the Elms Hotel & Spa on May 11. Members of the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce gathered at the morning event for continental breakfast, hotel tours and networking.




Chamber members welcome Jacob Messer during his Grand Opening/Open House event held May 11. Jacob Messer Photography Studio is located at 106 E. Broadway.

• Now through May 25 – "The Story of Aprons" exhibit of aprons and their history at the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives, 101 E. Broadway. Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children's special events April 21 and May 12, 1-3 p.m. Bring a copy of your favorite recipe for the Museum's cookbook of local recipes or mail to Museum. • May 17 – Thursday Night in Paradise Buffet at the Paradise Playhouse Dinner Theatre and Events Center, 101 Spring St. The dinner night is in addition to regular show performance schedule. Reservations are suggested, call 816-630-3333 or visit our website to see what specials we are serving.

• May 19 – Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at Excelsior Springs Airport, 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Request $5 donation. For more information, call 816-813-1210.

• May 19 – Join Jim Thomas, original singer songwriter that has a 70's style sound at Willow Spring Mercantile, 249 E. Broadway, 2-5 p.m.

• May 19 – Mosby Opry hosts country gospel and bluegrass music the first and third Saturday of each month at the Mosby City Hall, 12312 4th St., Mosby, 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public; donations are accepted.

• May 19 – Jamin Bray will explore how the national endured the tragedies and triumphs of the Civil War through songs and how American music changed during this time as well - on the grounds of the Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and Historic Site, 26600 Park Road North, Lawson, 7 p.m. For more information, call 816-580-3387.

• May 20 – Copper Creek Band foursome plays folky 70's style at Willow Spring Mercantile, 249 E. Broadway, 1-4 p.m.

• May 20 – Auditions for "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Slightly Off Broadway Theatre, 114 N. Main, 2-4 p.m. Roles for high school age and older. Questions call 816-637-3728 or 816-885-1980.

• May 21 – Game Day at the Excelsior Springs Museum & Archives, 101 E. Broadway, beginning 12 noon. $12 per person, includes lunch. Bring your friends/team, board or card games. Door prizes provided.
